Previews & Possibilities

Greetings all! I'm making a quick, spur of the moment post just to let all three of my readers know I'm still kicking. Here are some general updates on the new "Age of Fire" successor: - The single most time consuming part of this projects development, believe it or not, has been naming. I've been fooling around with a process that's very different from what I usually do to get less "samey" feeling results. It takes much, much longer, though, and I have two full notebooks to prove it.   - I've done a few "play tests" with hex grid maps, testing out general concepts like terrain types and win conditions for matches. This probably took a lot longer than you think! I went through a few different map sizes and layouts, team sizes, mechanics, etc.   - Slowly but surely I am also building a gallery of wildlife photography to use as inspiration for skins. - I have not made up my mind yet on how many skins there will be per character, but as s...

Wait that's not a dragonator...   A weapon to surpass Gojira?!   Toho, please be nicer to Baragon! PLEASE!   Shin is one of my favorite Godzilla movies, I swear...   ...but so is You Are Umasou!  It's totes canon to the Showa era. Ishirō Honda told me.   Super serious leaks / things that didn't happen in King of the Monsters 2019:   More things that didn't happen in KotM: My reaction to the great "Spinosaurus nerf" of 2015: "Stop laughing, rex."     "Hey can you draw something Easter-y for the work calendar?"  "Okay how about a pool party for summer?"   Only Triassic kids will get this one! Hooooowling at the mooooon, my stylish-emo-werewolf-curse will never heaaaaal~ Olaf wants to be a real boy. ...I think this was something about flirting? Maybe. I don't remember anymore.     Why is that duck throwing up another bird? :( LOOK AT THAT POSE! THAT AURA!   Me vandalizing my own work for shits and giggles:  ...

Preview: Next Project!

Well hi, internet! Wassup?   Yes, I am still around! I'm sorry this page is the inactive, forgotten little nook that it is, but this year's been pretty tough on everybody, me included. Hopefully some day things will improve enough that I can get into the swing of updating this regularly. I really do miss having an online space to call my own; the golden years on DA sure were fun, back before it got ran into the ground by art theft, unsupervised AI, and kiddy porn... Yikes. Most of the people who read this blog (there might be three of you? Maybe?) are already aware due to being on Discord servers with me, but just in case there are any stragglers out there who aren't fully in the loop, here's what I've been actively working on lately: a spiritual successor to Age of Fire. Here's a quick rundown for those interested:    *Currently untitled. *Will also be presented as an imaginary video game. There'll be a simple premise, a set of "playable characters...

Turok Retrospective Part 4: Evolution

Image
Having outlived its original N64 platform, the Turok series crossed over to the Xbox, GameCube, and Playstation 2 in 2002 for one final romp, Turok: Evolution . Its release marked the end of the Acclaim era and almost of Turok himself, with only a handful of other projects surfacing in the years since and none of them being as critically acclaimed or connected by lore. Evolution wasn't meant to be the end of this series, however, and a sequel titled Turok: Resurrection was pitched for a 2006 release, but never made it to development. So why, then, was it the end? Well... Evolution basically went through the same ill-fated arc that Shadow of Oblivion did, just worse. Acclaim needed a hit to keep the Turok train rolling but expectations had risen to a new high. They needed to please fans by topping Turok 3 and make something that would have enough mainstream appeal to be financially successful, but they were also coming in after the longest gap between games yet, and at a poi...
