Preview: Next Project!
Well hi, internet! Wassup?
Yes, I am still around! I'm sorry this page is the inactive, forgotten little nook that it is, but this year's been pretty tough on everybody, me included. Hopefully some day things will improve enough that I can get into the swing of updating this regularly. I really do miss having an online space to call my own; the golden years on DA sure were fun, back before it got ran into the ground by art theft, unsupervised AI, and kiddy porn... Yikes.
Most of the people who read this blog (there might be three of you? Maybe?) are already aware due to being on Discord servers with me, but just in case there are any stragglers out there who aren't fully in the loop, here's what I've been actively working on lately: a spiritual successor to Age of Fire.
Here's a quick rundown for those interested:
*Currently untitled.
*Will also be presented as an imaginary video game. There'll be a simple premise, a set of "playable characters" with skins and movesets, descriptions of gameplay modes, etc.
*Extremely similar setting, tone, and mechanics. It's basically an expanded standalone remake.
*"Tribal Mode" and Factions are gone.
*Combines the Legendarium with an immersive MK Krypt-style minigame for unlocking characters.
*Introduces Character Classes and RTS-style passively generated resources.
*New feed-to-heal mechanic comes with a cast of smaller ambient creatures (both peaceful and hostile) and prehistoric plants that vary by biome.
*Focus shifted from PvP to PvE. Players now work together as forces of nature rebelling against early man and matches are won by thwarting human armies, razing villages, and freeing enslaved allies. Princess Mononoke meets Primal Rage in concept, Rampage meets Marvel Heroes in execution.
*PvP is still available in supplemental game modes- there will be more of them than in Ages.
*Main enemies are enslaved war-beast versions of the main cast, primitive siege weapons, and supernatural summons.
*Significantly less emphasis on skins, significantly more emphasis on roster size and depth. Very few if any direct references; more novel content.
*Characters will have names, more detailed personalities and backstories, and expanded movesets with more special attacks/abilities.
*Still no plans to make an actual video game, sorry. I'm fully open to the possibility but my broke ass aint got the time or resources to learn how to do all that. I'm not a game developer, I just like imagining thing I'd like to play. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
PS, Monster Hunter: Verge is officially on hold until I say otherwise. To be perfectly honest, personal burnout and fandom negativity have really soured that project for me. It was already an uphill battle due to the sheer scope of it but now I don't even feel like it's worth my time anymore. I'm not canning it officially (who knows, inspiration comes and goes) but I haven't messed with it since April and don't plan on coming back to it any time soon.
